INSTALLATION FOR BRITISH EMBASSY
IN TOKYO, JAPAN

N 35∘ 41’ 15.089”
E  139∘ 44’ 29.696”

Digital exploration and simulations of kinetic design, that was explored along with physical model development, to understand material qualities and further expand possibilities of computational explorations.

Installation for the British Embassy in Tokyo is inspired by an earlier project “Conifera”, which was built in the 16th century Palazzo Isimbardi, for the Milan 2019 Design Week in collaboration with COS inc.
The installation is formed in modules that shift from a wood and bioplastic composite at the porch through to translucent bioplastic towards an entrance. Each bio-brick is made from fully compostable resources printed in the form of interlocking structural lattices, optimising material use and allowing light to permeate the structure as visitors travel through the installation.
